Jotun’s products are delivered in both liquid (solvent or water borne) and powder form, and ultimately end up as uniform coatings with a given set of properties designed to add value for the end users.

The effects of ultra violet (UV) radiation together with moisture and temperature fluctuation are harmful and result in degradation of most materials exposed to it through processes like erosion, corrosion, mechanical failure, poor appearance, etc.

Jotun has a wide range of products which provide protection of the coated object while maintaining the appearance and integrity of the coating for a long period.

On land, growth and accumulation of biomass (fungi, algae, etc) on surfaces can be a significant challenge. Not only does it impair the visual appearance, but it may also be destructive to the surface and reduce the lifetime of the object.

To prevent such problems, Jotun’s products are developed to significantly reduce the growth on the coated object, thus also increasing the maintenance intervals. Typical objects of protection: Houses, cottages and other buildings.

Corrosion is a destructive effect caused by chemical reactions between metals and their environments. This is both costly and dangerous, as it results in increased demand for maintenance and might cause structural failures.

Through the use of various technologies, Jotun has a wide range of solutions to provide corrosion protection to various types of objects exposed to any type of environment. Typical objects: Oil rigs, pipelines, steel structures.

Any surface exposed to sea water is not only exposed to the potential harmful effects of corrosion, but also the accumulation of biomass (algae, barnacles etc), better known as fouling. On ships, fouling results in significant increase in friction which leads to increased fuel consumption and thus higher CO2 emissions.

Jotun has developed a range of antifouling coatings which provides protection against growth or accumulation of biomass on ships over a long period of time, thereby reducing the need for maintenance. Typical objects of protection: Ships.

Interior coatings are designed to both protect the surface and provide decorative colour.

Jotun has developed a range of products which are scratch resistant and washable, thus maintaining a fresh look over an extended period of time.
